Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Plastic Surgery Local ("we," "us," "our") operates plasticsurgerylocal.com (the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
A note on sensitivity. Searching for or requesting a consultation about a cosmetic procedure is personal. We collect only what's needed to connect you with the provider you choose, we don't sell your information, and we never use your consultation requests for advertising. If you're in Washington, Nevada, or a state with a similar law, see our separate
Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy — it covers this in more detail, including your rights to access, delete, and withdraw consent.
Information we collect
- Search information: the ZIP code and any procedure or filters you search with, used to show nearby providers.
- Appointment & consultation requests: when you send a request to a practice, we collect the details you enter — your name, email, phone number, the service you're interested in, and your preferred days and times.
- Waiting-list signups: your email and, if you provide them, your ZIP code and comments.
- Reviews and content you submit: the review text and any details you choose to include.
- Provider registrations: practice name, contact details, credentials, and profile content submitted by providers.
- Automatic information: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability, and small browser-storage flags that remember choices like dismissing a notice. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
How we use your information
- To show you providers near your ZIP and operate the site's features.
- To forward your appointment or consultation request to the practice you selected and relay their reply back to you by email or text.
- To moderate and publish reviews you submit.
- To email you launch or service updates you asked for (every email includes a way to opt out).
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and improve features.
How we share information
- With the practice you choose: your appointment or consultation request — including your contact details — goes to that practice so they can respond. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy practices.
- Service providers that help us run the platform (hosting, email delivery, text messaging), under agreements limiting their use of your information.
- Our own contact system: if you join a waiting list or sign up for updates, your email — and the ZIP code and comments you chose to give — are stored in a contact system we operate for our own brands, so we can send the updates you asked for and honour your opt-out across them. It is ours, not a third party's, we do not sell or rent it, and no advertiser or data broker receives it. Your appointment and consultation requests are never placed in it. Opting out of email in one of our brands does not silence another you asked to hear from; you can opt out of any or all of them at any time.
- Legal reasons: if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
What we are not — and our HIPAA position
We are a directory and connection platform, not a healthcare provider or health plan. Information you share with us is protected by this policy and applicable consumer-privacy laws; once you become a patient of a practice, the medical records the practice keeps are governed by the practice's own obligations (including HIPAA, where it applies to them).
We are not a HIPAA covered entity, and we are not a business associate of any practice. We do not create, receive, maintain, or transmit protected health information on a practice's behalf. We do not host patient intake forms for practices, connect to any electronic medical record system, store clinical photographs or records tied to a named patient, or operate patient messaging as a practice's agent. What you send us is a request to be introduced to a practice — not a medical record — and we keep it that way deliberately.
Text messages (SMS)
If you provide a mobile number with a request, we may send appointment-related texts (and practices may reply through our number). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. We do not share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing, and receiving texts is not a condition of using the Service.
Your choices & rights
- You can ask us to correct or delete information you've submitted — including waitlist signups, requests, and reviews — by contacting us.
- You can opt out of update emails via the link in any email, and out of texts by replying STOP.
- Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information; contact us to exercise them.
Data retention & security
We keep information only as long as we need it, then delete or anonymize it. Our current schedule:
- Appointment & consultation requests: 24 months after the request, so a practice can follow up and so we can resolve any dispute about what was sent.
- Waiting-list and update signups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete, whichever comes first.
- Reviews: for as long as they are published; if you delete a review we remove it from the Service.
- Server logs: up to 12 months, for security and reliability.
- Records we must keep by law (for example, tax and payment records) are kept for the period the law requires.
You can ask us to delete sooner — see "Your choices & rights" above.
Security. Provider sign-in uses one-time links sent to a verified email or mobile number rather than passwords, so there is no provider password for us to store or for anyone to steal. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Adults only — minors
The Service is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 or about anyone under 18. Please do not submit a minor's name, age, photograph, location, condition, or treatment needs through any part of the Service.
If we learn that we hold information from or about someone under 18, we delete it promptly. If you believe a minor's information has been submitted to us, contact support@plasticsurgerylocal.com and we will delete it.
We do not operate a charitable-care, financial-assistance, or case-matching program and do not accept applications for one. An earlier version of this policy described such a program; it was never launched, no applications were ever collected through it, and it has been removed.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
